When Carroll Shelby decided to continue his legacy into today’s marketplace, his Shelby Cobra “Continuation” series was born. Built on original 1965 Cobra frames, these cars went straight to the hearts of Cobra enthusiasts everywhere. Accurately titled as 1965 Cobras, this CSX4050 is an authentic, licensed Cobra build by Caroll Shelby, complete with his signature on the dash. But while they are ‘65’s, they have been upgraded a bit for today’s driving. Shelby Cobra CSX4000’s were all produced as “Rolling Chassis” and delivered to Authorized Dealers for engine/transmission selection and final fitment. Built in 1997, this vehicle has a well-documented build and ownership history. This Cobra features a 1965 Ford Holman-Moody 427 Side Oiler big block engine, giving it a ground pounding 480 horsepower with 2 Holley 600 cfm 4 barrel carburetors. Built with a Four-Speed Top-Loader manual transmission and a Performance exhaust system with HPC exhaust. A Fluidyne radiator and electric fans cools things down as you heat things up on the streets. And a Canton racing oil pan and engine oil cooler makes the ’65 complete beneath the hood. Trigo aluminum 6 pin stainless steel spinners with knock-off hubs. Not only has Carroll Shelby resurrected the ultimate Cobra through the Continuation series, the racing Cobra is back as well, albeit in strictly limited numbers. Based on the CSX4000 series Cobra, the Shelby Challenge Racer retains the original car’s character and performance, and also incorporates extensive modifications designed to improve its durability, strength and safety. Each Shelby Cobra Challenge car is built on a fully triangulated SCCA-certified chassis and powered by a 351 Ford Windsor engine (stroked to 427) rated at a minimum 450 horsepower. The CSX4179 is the first of six cars specially built for the SCCA’s Cobra Challenge Series. Hidden beneath the Canary Yellow fiberglass body is a 500-horsepower 351 Windsor-based Ford engine equipped with Aluminum heads, a high-volume Holley 830 carburetor, Aviad dry sump oiling system and a custom built side-dump exhaust headers. Power is delivered through a Tilton Engineering magnesium driveline setup via a Jerico 4-speed manual transmission. Engine and differential oil coolers assure component longevity, as does the Fluidyne aluminum radiator. Rolling on fourteen-inch reproduction Halibrand knock-off wheels and Goodyear Stock Car Special racing slicks, the chassis is Shelby Automobiles’ upgraded and modernized version of the original 427 unit. The independent coil-over shock suspension and tubular sway bars are fully adjustable to suit track conditions, as are the upper control arms at all four corners. Huge heavy-duty competition four-wheel disc brakes provide sure-footed stopping power. Nothing was spared in preparing this car for safe competition. Besides the SCCA-approved cage, safety features include the trunk-mounted ATL fuel cell, Simpson five-point harness, and a Woodward collapsible steering column with detachable wheel. An onboard Halon fire protection system is central to driver safety.

This Shelby Cobra was built in 2004 and legally titled in CA thanks to the SB100 program.  It has 8,829 original miles and is in excellent condition throughout.  The 427 engine has aluminum block and heads and the body is also aluminum.

These cars sold out within weeks of their initial release. Since then they have been wildly popular on the open market. They are a rarity, a recently built car that has increased in value. The Shelby Cobra took the sports car world by storm when it was introduced in 1962. Shelby American took the AC "Ace" chassis, inserted a small block Ford engine and re-engineered the car to handle the additional power. On the track, the Cobra defeated sports cars from Jaguar, Chevrolet, Porsche, and others. Fact is, CSX2000 is the first Shelby Cobra ever built and quite possibly the most valuable American sports car in the world today. We honor this icon with a 50th Anniversary Limited Edition CSX8000-series Cobra. Only 50 vehicles will be produced. Exclusive CSX serial numbers have been reserved, from 8950 though 8999.
